DESCRIPTION
The lidded pot is 12.5cm (5in) in diameter and has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the date 1877. It is signed in monogram by Elizabeth Sayers with her number 716.
THE ARTIST
Elizabeth A Sayers had but a brief spell at Doultons from about 1876 to 1883. Her output is normally of carefully executed finely detailed incised items with plenty of contrasting lively colours.
CONDITION
The stoneware of the lidded pot is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration, but the EPNS rim, cover and handle show areas of wear and light pitting.
