William Rowe was an innovative designer, and this Royal Doulton 23cm (9in) vase could be considered to be “ahead of its time”. Gone are the high gloss finishes and the numerous colours, and the simplicity of the design is ground-breaking for the period. A vase for the collector with a taste for the esoteric!

The vase has the impressed Royal Doulton mark with lion, dating the vase to post-1923. It is signed in monogram by William Rowe and numbered 245. It is also signed in monogram by Rowe’s assistant Jane Hurst, and has a series number 5368.

The vase is in mint condition. There are two minuscule unglazed areas around the base of the vase.
