Frank Butler - a pair of Doulton Lambeth stoneware vases – 3451
This superb pair of Doulton Lambeth 32cm (11in) vases are the cream of this collection. For his variety of shape, colour, and decoration, Frank Butler ranks with the highest, and these vases are fortunately in mint condition. An exceptional pair for the most discriminating collector.
The vases have the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the word ’ENGLAND’ underneath, dating the vase to the period 1892-1902. They are signed in monogram by Frank butler and numbered 3451. They are also signed in monogram by Butler’s highly competent assistant, Bessie Newbery. They are not an exact pair, as one is about 2mm shorter than the other, and the base rim treatments of the two differ. The vases weigh approx. 1250g each.
The vases are in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or significant scratches.
