Designed in about 1910 by William Rowe, this Art Deco Royal Doulton design was well in advance of its period. It has the typical blocks of colour that are so characteristic of the Art Deco period. Even by this date, Wlliam Rowe had abandoned the curves and pastel colours of Art Nouveau period, and was well ahead of other contemporary designs. The vase is shown on p217 of "The Doulton Lambeth Wares" by Desmond Eyles and Louise Irvine. The 7.75in (19cm) vase has the Royal Doulton impressed mark with crown and lion. It is signed in monogram by an assistant "LB" and has the series number 7943. The vase weighs 643g.
The vase is in excellent 100% original condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing restoration or significant scratches. It has two pinholes in the glaze from the original firing.
