This Doulton stoneware bowl (design 8561) is 7cm tall and 19cm in diameter. Crafted by Ethel Beard, it was almost certainly to a design by Vera Huggins.

This vibrant bowl has the Royal Doulton Circle Mark with Lion(1922 onwards) and the Lambeth Mark. It is also signed by Ethel Beard, who worked for Doultons from the 1890s to the 1930s. The pigment brush-line design is very similar to one by Vera Huggins on page 229 of Desmond Eyles, 'The Doulton Lambeth Wares'. The bowl probably dates from the late 1920s.

Apart from a few minor scratches inside the bowl, it is in perfect order, with no cracks, chips, crazing or restoration.
