This tube-lined Royal Doulton Art Nouveau stoneware vase, 20cm (8in) tall, design 7760F, dates from the very beginning of the 20th century. Crafted by one of Doulton's finest ceramic artists - Bessie Newbery.

A superb vase, dating from the first decade of the 20th century contrasts so strongly with the High Victorian designs of the 1890s, a decade before. The style of this simple charming vase, exemplifies a turning point in the Doulton designs. It has an impressed Doulton Circle Mark with Crown and Lion, and the monogram of Bessie Newbery. Bessie Newbery, who worked at Doulton's for over 40 years, was one of the finest ceramic artists that Doulton had. Later in her career she was deemed worthy of initiating her own designs.

The vase is in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, or restoration.
