Royal Doulton Art Nouveau lidded stoneware jug - SOLD

The jug has the impressed Doulton Circle Mark with Crown and Lion, and the monograms of Bessie Newbery and Florence C Roberts. The jug has tube-lining with infilled colours similar to the items illustrated on page 199 of Desmond Eyles' 'The Doulton Lambeth Wares', and therefore probably dates from the period 1905-10.
Bessie Newbery and Florence Roberts worked for Doulton for over 90 years between them and were considerd to be two of the finest ceramic artists. Very fortunately, the jug has its original counterweighted lid with it. The jug is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. The lid has one small dent in the top and the plating has dulled.
