A globular Royal Doulton stoneware Art Deco 15cm diameter vase by Lily Partington with 'pigment brush' style decoration.

The shape of the vase, one of Doulton's 'New Style' shapes, dates from about 1912, but the 'pigment brush' style of the decoration is much later. The vase has the impressed Doulton Circle mark with Lion, which started use in 1922, and the signature in monogram of Lily Partington. A similar use of colour and line appears on page 218 of Desmond Eyles' 'The Doulton Lambeth Wares'. It probably dates from the 1930s.

The vase has no chips, cracks, or restoration, but on close inspection there is some crazing to the glaze. This is shown in photo 3.
