A small Royal Doulton stoneware vase - 15cm tall - from the Art Deco period in Art Nouveau style by Winnie Bowstead.

Despite being in Art Nouveau style, this vase has the impressed Doulton Circle mark with Lion, dating it to post 1922. It also has the signature of Winnie Bowstead. Winnie Bowstead was one of Doulton's most experienced ceramic artists working for them for 51 years, from 1896 to 1947. The shape of the vase is illustrated in Desmond Eyles' 'The Doulton lambeth Wares' on page 221 dating the design to about 1935.

The vase has no chips, cracks, ceazing or restoration, but has a mark on the rim, probably originating from contact with another vase in the firing process.
