A Royal Doulton late Art Nouveau 25cm tall stoneware vase probably from the 1930s by Winnie Bowstead.
This vase has the impressed Doulton Circle mark with Lion dating the manufacture to 1922 onwards. It also has the monogram of Winnie Bowstead, but that is no guide as to the date of the vase: she worked for Doultons from 1896 to 1947! The shape was current in 1935 as it appears on a chart of Doulton shapes in use then.
The vase is in perfect original condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration, but just the occasional pinhole in the glaze where it has failed to cover.
