A Royal Doulton Art Deco 22.5cm tall stoneware vase with stylised fruit motifs, by Bessie Newbery.

The shape of this vase is recorded as being one of those launched in 1912 as one of the 'New Style' shapes. All those designs had, like this one, brush-lined patterns on them. This one dates from 1922-3. It has the Doulton Circle mark with Lion only, a mark first used in 1922, and the monogram of Bessie Newbery, who, after about 40 years, left Doulton in 1923. Examples of this shape can be seen on pages 217 and 225 of Desmond Eyles' 'The Doulton Lambeth Wares'.

The vase is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, crazing or restoration.
