The vase has the Doulton Burslem mark underneath and a series number C2607, suggesting a manufacturing date of about 1889-90. Also the vase has a number GW528, suggesting a George white design. The quality of the Spanish decoration is of the highest quality, with the finest of metallic gold lines being used. The vase almost certainly is not missing a lid. Unusually, the inside of the upper rim is gilded, and the gilding shows no ware due to the use of a lid.
The vase is in near perfect condition: no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. The gilding only shows any wear in the fine linig around the outside of the upper rim, wher ther are alternate short and long gold thread lines.
