A pair of 6" (15cm) avant garde Art Nouveau Vases by Maud Bowden - X8977F. The 'relaxed' distribution of the glazes would suggest that they are a late product of this well-known artist.

These avant garde vases probably date from the 1930s. Maud Bowden is recorded as having worked at Doultons from 1903 to 1937, and stylistically the vases are certainly some of her later work. Both vases have Maud Bowden's monogram and also a signature 'JH', probably the monogram of Joan Honey. The impressed Doulton Mark with Lion was first used in 1922. They have two series numbers X8977F and 18005.

The vases are in mint condition with no chips, cracks, restorations or crazing.
