This mint condition 6.5" (16cm) Doulton Lambeth jug is an early work by Harriet Hibbut. She is recorded as becoming a Senior Assistant in 1882, but this jug is dated 1875.

'Shell' products are rare and when you consider the amont of work needed to produce this jug, that is not surprising. The jug has the Doulton Lambeth impressed mark and the incised monogram of Harriet Hibbut. Inside the lambeth mark is the date - 1875. As decorative items were first produced by George Tinworth at Lambeth only started in the 1860s, this jug is very early.

The jug is in totally original condition. It has no chips, cracks, crazing, scratches, or restoration. More unusually, there are no missing beads. The browns in the photo are redder than those on the jug, which have more of a golden colour.
