This superb jug represents Edith Lupton at her best. It has a combination of deeply incised work, and gentle but elaborate leaf patterns. The jug is signed by Edith Lupton, Margaret Aitken and a mysterious 'B' that might be Ernest Bishop, or Jessica Bowditch. It also has Edith Lupton's opus number 422, the Dolton Lambeth rosette and the date 1885.
The jug is in excellent condition. Apart from a 3 areas of missing glaze (approx 4mm by 2mm)it has no chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or significant scratches. The missing glaze has now been restored and the vase is in pristine condition.
