A superb pair of true Art Deco Royal Doulton stoneware vases by one of the finest of the Doulton's ceramic artists, Bessie Newbery. As Bessie Newbery finished at Doultons in 1923, after 42 years, these vase are likely to date from the beginning of the 20th century.

These superb 8.25" (21cm) Doulton Lambeth Stoneware vases are the the work of one great ceramic artist, Bessie Newbery, and one great designer, Margaret E Thompson. They have the impressed Doulton mark with crown and lion, the series number 7403 and the incised monogram of Bessie Newbery. They come from the period when brushlining was in vogue and (temporarily) the use of tubelining had diminished.

The vases are in totally original condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or even significant scratches.
