This pair of hexagonal 7.5" (19cm) Royal Doulton Art Nouveau vases by Ethel Beard date from about 1912. The shape is illustrated on p219 of 'The Doulton Lambeth Wares' by Desmond Eyles and Louise Irvine.

Both vases have the impressed Royal Doulton Lambeth mark and an unreadable series number. They also both have the incised monogram of Ethel Beard. At about this time, designs of shapes other than round were launched by Leslie Harradine, Francis Pope and others.

The vases are in excellent condition. For the most fastidious, one of the vases has a firing crack underneath and a minute amount of crazing to the white floral glaze around the top. Apart from this, there are no other cracks, crazing, chips or restorations.
