Royal Doulton items in this period continued to develop in the same way. The Art Nouveau and more geometric Art Deco movements were running in parallel. In fact, there was in the 1930s a resurgence of the floral designs that had typically flourished in earlier periods. The well-established designers such as Harry Simeon, Arthur Pearce and William Rowe were joined by younger designers with new ideas, such as Vera Huggins and Gilbert Bayes. For the leading designers of this period, brushlining was frequently used as well as the tubelining.
